Option 2 : -1/2

Let the denominator be x

Then numerator is x + 3

Fraction = (x + 3) /x

If its reciprocal is subtracted from it then the difference is 3/2

[(x + 3) /x] – [x/(x + 3)] = 3/2

On solving we get,

x^{2} – x – 6 = 0

Further solving we get

x = –2 or 3

⇒ Denominator = -2 and numerator = –2 + 3 = 1

∴ Fraction = –1/2
