Kudos to them for going prepared for an emergency, for leaving an ETA with friends, and for providing a large "signal" for their rescuers to spot.  Their solar-powered radio seems to have worked to contact a nearby boat that, in turn, helped focus the search area.

Whats interesting here is the application of procedures and technology to facilitate their rescue! Unlike 1937 in the Pacific  :(
