C.B.C, May 24, 1974 Mr. Ralph Martin Dear Mr. Martin, Thank you very much for your efforts on our behalf, in search of the missing airplane. We have spoken to the present Managing Director of Hawker–Siddeley, which took over the A. V. Rowe firm in Manchester, and they are searching back files and making enquiries of senior employees. The passage of time, and a fire some years ago at their offices which destroyed a large number of old records, would seem to make our chances of success slight, but that is a constant problem with stories of this sort. If by any chance you remember any further details, the man to whom you sent the metal fragment, the city, even the time of year, or if you happen across any subsequent correspondence the firm might have had with you, it would be of inestimable help. In any event, I will write and let you know the final result of our work. As I think I may have mentioned on the telephone both Mr. Judge and Mrs. Peters asked me to convey their kind regards to you and your wife. Thank you again. Yours truly, |
