Sketch of one piece. Jagged edge of flexable aluminum of a dull silvery or greyish color. Like 1/4 round molding joined. 2 pieces about 16″ long, like the above sketch of one. The wood seemed to have patches of verdigris along the sides. I knew these pieces were not home-made and believed they were part of a container brought to the area by sports/hunters from St. John‘s. I was not conscious of the lost aircraft at the time (though I had heard of it time and again) and not finding any comparitive pieces at Gunn‘s camp threw them in the direction of the river. Gunn's camp was located on Branch River oppposite the outlet of the Pup gully. I believe the time was July, 1950. If the evidence so far accumulated indicates a lost aircraft then my intuition tells me the engine and other heavy parts are in the main portion of the Gull Pond. If I can be of further help please let me know. Albert McGrath |
