Extract from a letter from Patrick Judge to C. Noonan, April 6, 1948 | ||||||||||
Transcription: I was in the country last week, accompanied by Leo McGrath, and came across what appears to be parts of an aeroplane, which have been there quite a long time. I was wondering if it would be the plane called the BLUEBIRD, as it has spots of blue paint still on it. We found the wreckage on the Island of Great Gull Pond, nine miles south southeast of Gooseberry You may know someone who could throw some light on this for me. If so I would be very thankful. I am sure it must be fifteen or twenty years ago since the plane fell as the iron is rusted out. The reason the wreckage has not been found before is you cannot reach the Island only when the pond is frozen. |
