The Tatiman (pronounced "tasiman") passage is the main channel by which water flows in and out of Nikumaroro's lagoon.
TIGHAR was told that something that resembled a wheel was seen in the passage. This led to the "Wheel of Fortune" expedition in 2003. The object could not be found.
TIGHAR has searched the passage and the lagoon floor inside the passage extensively on various expeditions, thinking that aircraft debris might have entered the lagoon through this inlet.
