: In 1946, Vaskess helped Tofiga's home community on Vaitup in [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuvalu Tuvalu] (formerly the Ellice Islands) purchase the island of Kioa in Fiji.  Fiji has set a limit of 500 for the size of the community on Kioa.  When the Kioans were sailing to their new home, they saw hills for the first time in their lives.  Some of them were terrified that the earth would fall on them.
