Most of these images depict tiny fragments of highly oxidized ferrous metal recovered in 2007 from the SL-Fire Feature at the Seven Site, Nikumaroro. A small proportion were found in a discrete rectangular concentration about 40 cm. on a side, suggesting a can or metal box of approximately those dimensions. Many of the fragments contain rivets or pins of some kind, often near finished edges. The metal is very thin (ca. 1 mm. or less) and is laminated. Several straight edges have been found, along with a couple of square corners and right-angle bends. Some edges may have been finished by being wrapped over and around pieces of straight wire, a number of fragments of which were recovered.
