Mr. Songivalu appeared to be 70+ years old in 1997. He was then a resident of Funafuti. He arrived on Nikumaroro sometime after WWII and stayed for 4 years. He speaks English as a second language. He spoke well, was articulate and did not repeat anything unless asked.
