I know this is old news, but it appears it is on for this June.  Maybe she will crash land on Niku while you're there!

Fingers crossed that everything goes OK for them, but a couple of observations: 1) I thought we were over that "distant relative" thing; 2) Are those range specs for the Electra 10-E right?; 3) I rather hope both of them have their instrument ratings and a top-drawer communications plan thought out. We all know how things can turn out when you don't.

Looks like there are some substantial changes to the 'over the Pacific' route.  I think this new bird only has a fractions (about 1/3) of the range of the Electra with all it's extra tanks...so a few extra stops along the way.  Not sure what this proves, unless you do it in a 10E..with only a ADF and no receiving radio....ha...ha.

Agreed!  As has been discussed here before, there wasn't much point to the 1937 attempt, let alone this one.

Dan Swift

Worse case....raises more attention to AE.  It's a 'name sake' / distant relative thing I guess.  And a woman (female) issue (that theme seems to be consistent throughout most of the articles regarding this even).  Sorry ladies..."I'm just sayin".  Nothing personal.
PR stunt.  Yep.  Will be forgotten after your discoveries on the next Tighar expedition.

Amelia Rose has acknowledged that her earlier claims to be a distant relative of Amelia Mary were mistaken.  She is no relation.
Many of us share a name with famous people but, sad to say, Dizzy Gillespie was not my uncle.

Dan Swift

Ah....I did not know that.  I had only read that she was a distant relative.
Yep, I don't think I am related to Tom Swift either.

Separated at birth?

This could be a fundraising breakthrough!  Laughs For Cash.  If we can get pledges totaling $1,000 I'll sing The Earhart Song in a Youtube video. Jeff Lange's $100 will count.  Only $900 to go.
(Caveat: The Earhart Song is an irreverent parody of the Air Force Song.  No disrespect to the USAF intended.)

What the heck, you only live once. I'm in for $100.
