I believe that is actually a Lockheed 12 "Electra, Jr." (at least there was one there 20 years ago that was used by NBC News Productions in the host segments for "Untold Stories: The Search for Amelia Earhart.")

Thanks Russ.  ( My God. Was it really 20 years ago that we worked on that show?)

I'm afraid so.  It was made in the wake of the 1991 expedition and broadcast the following year.

2012-1992 = 20

By the way, I've noticed that the same seller is also offering a Lockheed 12A (though not the bare metal static example that was on the ramp in Santa Paula) ...

What the heck, I'm gonna go ahead and buy both of 'em!

Maybe they'll give you a discount?  Like say.. "buy one Lockheed and get another (of equal or lesser value) for half price!"

LTM, who wishes he had 1/100th of the bid amount to throw around right now,

I see that Ric stated it is a replica and I also noticed that it is carrying the same number as Amelia's 10E.  Is that legal?  I thought that it would have to carry its own numbers or would someone be able to "acquire" that registration number somehow since it had been inactive for a long period of time?  Just curious...

LTM,

Don

Is this the replica (or yet another?)

Mainly interested because the wheels (rather than tires) look bigger.

I'm quite sure that's c/n 1015, the Finch/Kammerer replica that is now for sale.
I'm aware of no other replica of c/n 1055.

I completely agree.

I believe c/n 1042 (Grace McGuire's airplane) is being rebuilt as a replica of NR16020, but at last report it wasn't nearly so complete.
