A 1943 movie starring Rosalind Russell and Fred MacMurray. Although it made no mention of Earhart or Noonan (the female pilot is called "Toni Carter" and the navigator/love interest is "Randy Britton"), the parallels with Earhart's career were unmistakable. The movie almost certainly planted the seeds for ten thousand conspiracy theories because it portrays the lead characters as departing from a rational flight plan to do some spying on behalf of the U.S. Navy.
