YouTube video: Object inspected 7-18-12
« on: October 29, 2012, 07:42:06 PM »

YouTube description of "Object inspected 7-18-12":

"This object was inspected by the ROV on 7-18-12 and was believed to be the object seen in the side-scan sonar imagery that resembled a wing. It is, of course, not a wing--but is it the object in the side-scan imagery?"

Hi Marty

The object that appears to be above and behind apparent nc debris is what am interested in, nice clean round edges.

The square tank is odd as well as it didn't appear on sonar

Thank's for video

Hi Marty

...

Thanks for video

Ric and Pat did 100% of the work on the video.  All I did was copy and paste the link over here.   ::)

Those ribs look like steel from the Norwich. But the box is interesting. I cannot imagine glass tubes surviving so long, but it looks like the top of glass vacuum tubes inside the box.
While it probably might show cross contamination, I think the box is pretty neat. Dang, Wish they could have grabbed it. It probably wont be there in two years unfortunately.

I may be wrong but didn't the ROV pilot point out the box like object to Ric as they were approaching the 'wing' feature?

The difference between this debris field and the other debris field is quite apparent despite the seamounts best attempts at burying it. This wreckage is huge and, built to withstand the best the sea can throw at it. Shame the Electra wasn't built like this, though if it was it would never have left the ground ;)
This must be the place

I was right there beside Wolfgang the whole time.  We all saw the box.
