No sign of any announcement over here yet Chris. I am cable TV but programming doesn't go that far into the future. If I hear any news I'll post it up.

Tom,
I think you heard about the pilot down in Florida that was flying an areostar ( twin engine ) that took off, he had medical problems, radio'd that he couldn't see, and put the plane on auto after turning it out to sea ( many years ago ). Daughter still hoping some one will find the wreck on the bottom some where.

Yeah I saw it-----by the scroll line it lookd VERY PROMISING-----but--. Im sure for the family it was good news, but I didnt think it warranted that kind of exposure on CNN------they knew of TIGHARS adventure. The way is was worded 'sounded' like 'maybe' something was found. Some people 'assumed' it was TIGHAR----my mother for one!!

Not sure on the title like, Mystery Solved ?

They must have obviously found something, But will probably have to go back to clarify it as they were on way home when they found it.

And my opinion is it's in the vicinity of wire and rope  ;)

Just checked my FiOS TV guide
August 19th, 9pm Central time (60 min.)

Title:
"Finding Amelia Earhart: Mystery Solved"
Description:
The mystery surrounding the sudden disappearance of the aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart has lasted for over 70 years, but now, one man believes he has finally found out why she vanished over the Pacific Ocean and is on the verge of finding her.

edit: replays at 11pm central
The Discovery Channel's official listing has a question mark after "Mystery solved?"

Incredible underwater footage.  Certainly the "worst environment imaginable", as far as looking for something goes.  Sad to see nothing concrete was found, but the data's the thing that will take TIGHAR back.

I'm sending in another few bucks for the next search right now, let's get a thing going.

One last thought: I realize Amelia was the star of the Amelia and Fred Show, but it does bother me how everyone talks about finding "Amelia".  I know brevity is important at times, but let's not forget Fred Noonan.  He suffered and died just as Amelia did, let's not overlook him.  Personally I try to refer to the collectively as AE/FN.  Hope I'm not out of line, thanks.
