Have read this
Research Paper
with interest a number of times and have a thought or two about it.
There has been some discussion about how this item got to the island and that got me thinking about 'shelf' life of cosmetic products in the 30's. How long would a lady expect to keep the product and the product be OK to use. Could a shelf life of a 1933 bottle be a number of years (say 5) that would put the bottle in the time frame of AE second world flight?
If there is a shelf life this could if it were known cast a shadow over other known visitors to the island as being its source.

I would think (but I don't know) that the shelf life of products like Campana Italian Balm is quite long - easily five years. Also, the year a bottle is manufactured is not necessarily the year it was filled and put on the market.
