1930’s Radio Call Signs, XMA11
« on: September 03, 2021, 11:32:13 PM »

I’m trying to identify a putative 1930's radio call sign, XMA11, that might be from New Zealand (or possibly Western Samoa, but I think that territory would have been administratively covered under NZ and any licenses would have been issued/recorded there).  I saw Randy’s post (below) with respect to XRO and a US database of radio call signs and was wondering if Randy or anyone else might know if there is a similar database of amateur radio call signs available for NZ (or that area of the world) in that time frame?  Obviously, an online database would be preferable, but any other suggestions of where to look would also be welcome.

…. The possibility of a radio call sign jogged my memory, that perhaps it was an amateur station, often referred to as the final 3 digits (the first two being K5, K6, W5,W6 in the US).  I found a 1938 directory of amateur stations on the Internet, which is very useful.  The link is:

I want to believe.
