Amelia Earhart aircraft found? UFO hunter 'spies' plane on Google Maps – '100% proof'

Sure enough.  Big ol' Lockheed Electra right there in plain sight on Palmyra Atoll.
It's a Model 18 chartered by a ham radio club that ground-looped into the trees on landing sometime in the 1970s.
We saw it when we stopped there to refuel on the way to Canton in 1998.

Oh Lord - looks like that thing was pasted together with whatever they could lay their hands on.  Check out the replacement Plexiglas canopy compared to the original:

(Note - replaced the first photo I uploaded because it was . . . dated).

However, its two engines are still visible as well as its in tack three blade propellers and cockpit.

"However, the plane was last seen with two bladed propellers, but she may have changed them on the trip or her last stop in New Guinea.

"Three bladed propellers may have caused a crash, as she was not supposed to use to them."

"This all points to this being the Lockheed Electra Amelia Earhart was flying.

The stupid.....it burns.

Gotta love those in tack propellers.

LTM, who knows two blades are sometimes better than three,

Nevermind that it's 3700 miles away from Lae, so they would have needed an extra 350 or so gallons + reserve to get there.

Maybe the three-bladed propellers helped.

You didn't happen to grab a "dust cover" while there?
