This morning as I was glancing at the photo recently posted in regards to what might appear as a crankshaft..my thought came to mind that it might be a circular valve to turn on and off water or something else from the Norwich City. Anyway, I went to look at old photos of the SS Norwich City in hopes to answer this question when I ran across the old Gardner photograph of the shipwreck. Not realizing it at first.. till the corner of my eye caught this object. What appears to be an aircraft with its right wing slightly sticking in the air as if the plane came down at an angle. I've looked at this several times to reassure myself that I'm not going crazy..but need your opinion on this to see what you guys think. The picture also looks as if the left wing is missing..possibly torn off when it came down at an angle. The tail is sticking up in the air as to indicate that if this the Electra..it came down into a nose dive effect. Anyway...please tell me we have something here..thanks!!!  (Follow the white arrow to the right.)

Not enough resolution for me to tell one way or the other in this image.

As Bill Mangus said, hard to tell much of anything at 100 dpi resolution.  But if I'm correct in guessing what the arrow is pointing at, it would be nearly half the size of the Norwich City, which had a length of 397 feet and a beam of 53 feet.  The length of the Electra was 38 feet and change, with a wingspan of 55 feet.

No way to tell with that resolution- our minds lead us to see what we want at times?

BTW- the ship was the SS Norwich City, NOT the USS- it was never a US naval vessel!
