I assume it isn't cheap to rent and requires a great deal of expertise to operate and interpret the data

Ric indicated this might, emphasis on might, be useful searching the very inhospitable terrain in Newfoundland.

Was a magnometer used on the previous expeditions to Newfoundland?
This seems to be the most tanglable location. What about the report (story)
that a motor (engine) was pulled from a lake?

Richard, my highly fallible memory wants to tell me that TIGHAR did delpoy a magnetometer or something like that in their aerial surverys of the Newfoundland peninsula area. There may be something to the "engine in the pond" story but nothing documented has turned up.
