Title: New warning box with IE
Post by: Craig Fuller on September 23, 2009, 09:14:57 PM
I have to admit I have not been to the forum for a while, but something new on this visit is that everytime I go to a new page I get a warning box saying:

"This page shows both secure and unxecure items.

Do you want to display unsecure items?"

Was a something done recently that might cause this?

Yes.

In order to keep our ability to take credit card numbers, we had to secure the site.

In order to meet the standards for site security, we had to make all logins function under https.

In order to make all logins function under https, I put the Forum in secure mode.

Not every element of the page is fetched in secure mode (mainly the .css style sheet).

This web page (http://blog.httpwatch.com/2008/04/30/fixing-the-do-you-want-to-display-nonsecure-items-message/) says that you can teach IE to relax:

This setting can be changed in IE by:

   1. In IE go to Tools->Internet Options->Security
   2. Select the ‘Security’ tab
   3. Click the ‘Custom Level’ button
   4. In the ’Miscellaneous’ section change “Display mixed content” to Enable

I hope that helps.

FYI, I followed the procedure for enabling mixed content and set tighar.org as a trusted site. It works. No more annoying pop-up!
