Did we know that when the first Trans Pacific Airmail flight, The Pan Am China Clipper took off from San Francisco Bay in 1935 (Under the Golden Gate bridge I might add) the Navigator was none other than Fred Noonan.

There are two great articles on Noonan on the website:

"Research Bulletin: Fred Noonan." (http://tighar.org/Projects/Earhart/Archives/Research/ResearchPapers/Noonan.html)

Fred Noonan, Sea Captain. (http://tighar.org/Projects/Earhart/Research/Bulletins/09_Noonan/09_Noonan.html)

I don't have time to re-read them just this minute, but I'll bet that they've got a pretty good picture of Fred's work with Pan Am in them.

Marty,

The link you provided for the research paper doesn't work. Use this instead: Fred Noonan (http://tighar.org/Projects/Earhart/Archives/Research/ResearchPapers/Noonan.html).
