Title: Name that plane?
Post by: Walter Runck on April 23, 2011, 08:37:23 PM
I saw this beauty at an air show at Charleston AFB a couple of weeks ago and couldn't identify it.  I didn't see any signs or apparent owners/crew hanging around, so I thought I'd pass the mystery on to the forum.  I guess it's one of the Electra derivatives, but perhaps someone can narrow it down?  Maybe the exercise will help sharpen some skills out there!

My initial guess would be a Beech 18

Look at the windshield configuration, and I think it matches the Beech 18, but that would be far from definitive.

I agree with Andrew... Beech 18.  Could very well be this one. (http://www.arc-duxford.co.uk/beech18.htm)

Nice work, James!  It looks like a match to me.

Cool.  I didn't get close enough to even determine the manufacturer.

Here's a larger, but similar view from the local fishwrap.
