Marty's post has got my brain in wreck site overdrive, not good when i've got other stuff to do today.
The BBC (http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/ancient/archaeology/gallery_desert_rescue.shtml) did a show a few years back about a crash in the Sahara so thought i'd share it.
Interesting that the locals have made use of the wreck site.

We have "Opportunistic merchants" around here. They drive pick-ups and also collect scrap - plus anything else not tied down. ;D
We have those around here, too, Chris, including the occasional Darwin Award winners who try to "recycle" power lines for the copper ...
