So Cool!
Bet that is the fastest that plane has gone backwards before.

Really like the Mig too!

Somebody should tell them how to "Dosido"...

Nose up to the door off-center to one side, swing the tail around and come in backwards through the door.

I used to take the 60-plus-something foot wingspan of the Otter through the 50 foot door of the hanger, all winter long.
And never pulled the wingtips .

Just sayin'

For some reason my mental picture of Bill includes a faded leather helmet, goggles, and a long fur-lined leather jacket....

I do so love his posts (Thanks Bill)

Thank you ,Sir !
There is a picture of me on snowshoes on my scrapbook page from about 45 years ago, when i was a lot prettier !?!
(  www.alaskaseaplanes.com/scrapbook.html )...but I am a mere child to those old guys.

In fact, I had a moment of conscience because it was mostly the old Travel Air I used to put in and out of the hanger with a 'dosido'...48 foot wing into a 35 foot hanger door...but the principle works after a few bumps and curses !...and I did it with the Otter when i didn't want to fight the wingcovers and a tall ladder and there was a big hanger available...
The trick is to start far enough to one side to still be able to swing the tail through

Happy days ....

Bill

WOW!
Thank you for sharing - I'm curious though...."bagpipes and all"?
Your heart is certainly as big as your location.
Cheers

they put a new aortic "pig valve" in my heart two years ago last July which stopped my flying... I played the bagpipes on my 80th birthday ! (Silver & Ivory Hardies, bought in 1963) a year and a half ago, for a Test Hop.

Thank's for your kind words....This is a neat place to hang out!?!

What struck me the most about this video was at the very end, where they panned the camera over that end of the hanger and went from the 1950s and 60s jets to the Lockheed Electra standing proud in the corner. What a tremendous leap in technology in such a very short period of time.

Amelia and Fred would no doubt be amazed.
