We had a great team meeting on May 1 followed by some supplemental drone training on May 2. Lots of great photos. I'll put something together for the TIGHAR website but, for the moment here's a group portrait (via drone).
Left to right: Andrew McKenna, Dive Team; Jim Linder, Dive Team Leader; Bill Rodgers (in ball cap), Dive Team; Lee Paynter, Dive Team; Your Obedient Servant (in TIGHAR sweatshirt); Ron Bernier of Advanced Remote Marine Systems, ROV pilot; Dawn Johnson, TIGHAR staff aboard the Betchart Cruise; John Clauss, ROV assistant and Land Team; Mark Smith of Oh Seven Films, video cameraman and primary drone pilot; Dr. Tom King (blue cap), TIGHAR Senior Archaeologist and leader of Betchart Cruise TIGHAR staff; Laurie Rubin, still photographer; Barbara Norris (sunglasses), TIGHAR staff aboard the Betchart Cruise; Gary Quigg, TIGHAR archaeologist and Land Team Leader; Lonnie Schorer, Land Team and backup drone pilot.
Not present for the meeting: Walt Holm, Dive Team.
10 of these people have been to Niku with TIGHAR before.
8 of these people have hands-on experience with Lockheed Electra wreckage at the 1936 crash site in Idaho.
The 5 Dive Team members have practiced underwater search techniques together in the Florida Keys.
This is the most experienced team we have ever put in the field.
I am immensely proud of this team.
