Is this a cold case?
« on: March 22, 2013, 03:51:31 PM »

Sorry about the title--could not think of a better one.

It has been quite a few years since the last Tighar expedition to search for evidence of the Nungesser & Coli flight. If there were funds on the scale of what was available for the last Niku expedition to launch another search for Nungesser & Coli's flight, are there places Ric/Tighar would like to investigate?

Also I'm wondering if, at much less cost, there are armchair-based analyses that might be helpful at this point. I'm thinking about the Niku hypothesis and the credible radio analyses, tide studies, etc. Are there leads that have not been fully explored that perhaps members of this forum could pursue?

I kind of hate to ask this, but I've not seen anything on it yet... Has anybody brought any reputable psychics into this search? I know the police are using them more and more, so asking one or a group to look at the evidence and see what they think... who knows?

Thanks,

A "reputable psychic" might be one that a police department has used more than once...?

One never knows if a psychic could "see" a plane fragment or artifact somewhere on the island, or maybe guide the underwater rovers near a spot.

I was just wondering if this avenue had been explored yet.

Thanks,

The psychics have been bringing themselves into the case from the very beginning.

TIGHAR regularly gets contacted or even visited by psychics.  Amelia's reincarnated self came to the TIGHAR Symposium in DC last year.  Her story has also been told in The Re-Birth of an Atlantean Queen.

In theory, you couldn't have a more reputable source than that.  But as Yogi is said to have said, ""In theory there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is."

Marty,

I'm afraid the psychics will always be with us. Oddly, howver, if you look at the second page of the newspaper article you posted you'll see in those drawings made by the person who 'saw' Amelia that in one of them Amelai has a box. The castaway was found with a sextant box!

(sounds of the Twilight Zone theme song are heard as we fade to black... ;)).

So many psychics have made so many predictions that it would be hard not to find a match between one of them and the final resting place of our heroes.   ::)
