The Trident legacy
« on: December 25, 2013, 04:53:20 AM »

This particular air crash and the findings from the investigation, more than any other, introduced new safety measures and procedures which have benefited air safety the world over.
The significance of cockpit hierarchy and captains that could never be questioned or doubted and teamwork.
Compulsory cockpit voice recorders.
This air crash was significant to me personally as we were fishing the river Colne on Staines moor when she came down. We were on the opposite side of the A30 road to the crash but new little of it until the emergency services turned up. The engine sounds from the Trident engines never altered at all, no attempt to spool them up so we paid little attention to it as it sounded just like a normal take off and turn.
Very sad day.

United States link to air crash investigation...

Great plane the Trident but so noisy, hence the strict rules regarding noise reduction on take off which they had to adhere to which INMO, contributed to the accident as well as the other factors mentioned in the final report.

The link is to a TV documentary series titled "Air Crash Investigation". If you go to YouTube and search for "Air Crash Investigation S13E01" or "Air Crash Investigation Season 13 Episode 1" you can find a viewable version.
