A remarkable accomplishment in 2005, which shows that historic aircraft can be recovered, if all of the parties needed can come together for a common goal. it's also important to note that the overall great condition of the airframe is due to both the low oxygen silt and low salinity of the fjord where it came to rest, and the fact that it was in calm waters. None of those conditions, unfortunately, is present off Nikumaroro.
