I thought members might enjoy this link to flying over open water in tiny single engine airplanes.  While it doesn't relate to Fred/Amelia directly, it showcases some of the dangers of flying over the ocean in those days.

There are also many vids of the contemporary light airplanes of the time, most of them built in the thirties.

Hi Diane. Great topic to share with TIGHAR. And as a student of WWII history the clips of 7 Dec. were outstanding. I'll treasure this archive for a long time, and view it frequently. (Have enjoyed your comments on the other topic.) Thanks, Guthrie Ford.

Thanks, John and Diane for your great input and information. "phoenix" was especially interesting.
