It's called Dogfights and is on the History channel on Friday evenings. They do a very good job of clearly illustrating historic dogfights with extremely well crafted computer graphics. Those involved in the actual dogfight provide personal recollections and air combat tactics are simply explained. It will be available as an educational program for students. Do we have any TIGHAR participants scheduled for this event, or any details on the exact date? Whether you're able to get the show will depend upon your cable service. At least in this area you have to have digital cable. We won't be able to get it so if somebody who has the capability could run it onto a DVD I'd appreciate it. TIGHAR's work should be a significant part of the show. They interviewed me and Betty and even did a recreation of her notebook episode. We provide tons of information and documents. They also reportedly bought some footage of the 1991 TIGHAR expedition from NBC. That we will be part of the show is certain. HOW they will treat us is the big question. Thanks for the heads up. I'll get in touch with them. How can they possibly have an Amelia Earhart event without TIGHAR? :-) LTM, Ric ========================================================================= Date: Mon, 27 Nov 2006 16:14:26 From: Karen Hoy Subject: Re: National Geographic Earhart show I've got the National Geographic Channel. I know I can record to video, and I'm pretty sure I can record to DVD. Glad to know this show is better than the usual cable documentaries. I did provide her with information on the TIGHAR organizations should they be interested in pursuing the idea. Sorry for the bad lead; I am further checking on the possibility it may have been another organization in Seattle sponsoring a program. So they shouldn't be entirely unaware of TIGHAR and the Earhart project, though I do find that memories are short in historical organizations.
